These are the steps to Getting Started with Domain Registration or ordering Website Hosting.
Step 1
When you register a domain name, or order website hosting, the first step will be to click on the service you wish to purchase, and then work through the steps outlined in this video. During this process, you will need your credit card handy so that you can pay for the domain names or hosting services you order.
Step 2
Your order will then be processed. If you buy a domain name only, it will appear in your customer account within a few hours. You will receive an email from us with your login details when your account is ready.
Domain Names
If your website hosting plan is NOT with us, you will need to modify your domain name’s DNS (Domain Name Servers) to make it point to where your website is hosted. Your website host should have their DNS information available on their website. There are usually two Name Server addresses that need to be modified. Whenever you modifiy DNS it usually takes a few hours for the new record to populate across the internet, so please be patient.
Note also, you may have to configure your existing website (if you have not already done so) with the domain name you intend on using. This would apply if you’ve setup a free Blog with Blogger, WordPress.com or Google Sites.
Hosting
If you purchase hosting from us, your domain name will automatically point to your new hosting service with Redcliffe Web Hosting. You will get a separate email from us with information about how to login to your cPanel account a few hours after placing your order.
You will also have a separate Username and Password to log in to your cPanel account which is different from your Username and Password to access your Account information. It’s a good idea to keep a note of both for future reference. Once you log in to cPanel you can setup the email accounts you need and begin working on your website.
Free WordPress Installation
If you would like to use WordPress as your website we are happy to install it for you. Please use our Contact Form to send through an email once your hosting is setup. Free installation only applies to Hosting Plans.
